{"id":6027,"date":"2013-08-19T15:20:15","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T15:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heakodanik.ee\/en\/2013\/08\/19\/2000-take-part-in-paide-opinion-festival__trashed\/"},"modified":"2016-09-27T21:30:42","modified_gmt":"2016-09-27T18:30:42","slug":"2000-take-part-in-paide-opinion-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heakodanik.ee\/en\/news\/2000-take-part-in-paide-opinion-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"2,000 Take Part in Paide Opinion Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<strong>Around 2,000 people attended the first Arvamusfestival (Opinion Festival) in Paide on August 16 and 17.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe festival, inspired by a similar event in Sweden, featured 200 speakers on a variety of stages, discussing topics like ethnic tolerance, education, e-elections, the economy and the &quot;Estonian Nokia,&ldquo; reported uudised.err.ee.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn addition to formal debates by well-known commentators, cultural figures and politicians, there were also spontaneous, unscheduled discussions where everyone could weigh in.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOne of the event&#039;s founders, Kristi Liiva, said said there was a free and friendly atmosphere among the diverse crowd that came together.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;It proves that a cultured exchange of opinions is possible,&rdquo; Liiva said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;The coolest thing was that there are ruins of an old gate next to the Vallitorn tower and suddenly a discussion appeared there that we didn&#039;t even know about.
