Estonia is the freest country online, according to a study by FreedomHouse. The New York based human rights watchdog organization ranked Estonia first in a list of 37 countries.
Using three criteria to measure freedom – obstacles to internet access, limits on content and violations of user rights – the survey put Estonia at the top of the list, noting the country's highly-developed online culture and the fact that content restrictions are among the lightest in the world, reported news.err.ee
Estonia was trailed by the US, Germany, Australia and the UK in the list of truly free countries, while Cuba and China assumed their usual positions in the list as 'not free' countries, even online.
