A good culture of debate, inclusion and shared decision-making is now even easier to implement, thanks to the revamp of the Citizen OS participatory platform.
The Citizen OS platform is a free, ad-free, secure and open-source tool that supports organisations and communities in increasing democratic participation in society. Its main goal is to support a respectful culture of debate, democratic participation and shared decision-making.
The platform is primarily designed to support civil society initiatives. It is also used by political parties, municipalities, institutions and informal networks. The Citizen OS platform allows for better implementation of activities such as public assemblies, voting, reasoned debates, etc.
The platform is available in Estonian, English, German, Russian and Slovak.
What’s new?
In addition to the design, the main features of the platform have also changed:
A fresh-looking desktop. New look.
Find what you’re looking for easier and faster. It’s now much simpler to create topics and groups, and there is a step-by-step guide for users on how to initiate their own engagement process using the platform.
Creating topics is more flexible. Want to have a discussion without voting? Organise voting without a discussion? Now you can better adapt your topic creation to the decision making process: just select the step you want to start from and add the next step when you want!
Better discussion features. It’s now much easier to follow and react to the debate stage. Arguments for and against are now visualised to give a quick and easy overview of the opinions of the people involved.
A better user experience on smartphones. The usability and intuitiveness of the platform on smart devices is now significantly improved. This makes it easier for you and other decision-makers to use the platform on the move.

Better navigation. We conducted a series of tests and interviews with users. This has made the platform much more user-friendly. We will continue to develop to make it even better and come up with new features.
